Thief Nabbed on Santa Monica Beach: APB: Money, It’s A Hit!

A man was robbed of his cash, after being solicited to purchase some marijuana, on the Santa Monica beach board walk. Officers were able to arrest the alleged thief.

On Sunday, June 26, at 6:56 p.m. officers of the Santa Monica Police Department responded to a report of a robbery that had occurred in the 3000 block of Ocean Front Walk a few minutes earlier. When they arrived at the scene the officers spoke to the victim who told them that he had been walking along, and counting his money, when the suspect had approached him and asked him if he had any desire to purchase some marijuana.

The victim had responded in the negative to this question, and after he had said this, the suspect had grabbed the money from his hands, and told the victim that he had a gun and would shoot him. The suspect then walked away with the money northbound toward the pier. The officers went in search of this bandit and found him in the 1500 block of Palisades Park. The victim then positively identified the suspect, and this 60-year-old alleged robber, from Hawthorne, was arrested and charged with robbery. His bail was set at $50,000.00.
