On Thursday, Sept 22, at 10:55 a.m. officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were on patrol in the area of Wilshire Boulevard and 18th Street when they observed a man sitting on a bus bench on the southwest corner of the intersection.
The officers looked closely at this man and they recognized him.
They also recalled that this man had a valid court order against him that prohibited him from being in the 1800 block of Wilshire Boulevard, so they confirmed the order, and then arrested him for violating it.
This man had been arrested two days prior for doing exactly the same thing. He was taken to jail and charged with violation of a court order, and a probation violation.
The bail for this 61-year-old resident of Santa Monica (I hope he does not live in the 1800 block of Wilshire!) was set at $10,000.
Editor’s Note: These reports are part of a regular police coverage series entitled “Alert Police Blotter” (APB), which injects some minor editorial into certain police activities in Santa Monica. Not all of the Mirror’s coverage of incidents involving police are portrayed in this manner. More serious crimes and police-related activities are regularly reported without editorial in the pages of the Santa Monica Mirror and its website, smmirror.com.
