The Santa Monica Police Department has released details of an armed robbery in Santa Monica at Eddie’s Liquor in the area of 20th and Pico Boulevard on Tuesday afternoon.
Officers responded to reports of the armed robbery at 2:27 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers learned that a victim had been robbed at knife-point in front of the parking lot area of the liquor sore.
The suspect ran east into the alley and disappeared into the back of an apartment complex located in the 2000 Block of Pico Boulevard.
A perimeter was established and after a short standoff, the suspect surrendered to police and he was taken into custody without further incident. There were no injuries in the robbery.
During the investigation, officer’s located victims from three additional robberies that were all committed in the area just prior to the one they had responded to. The suspect was identified in each case by victims and witnesses. Evidence taken in each of the robberies was cell phones, iPods, and cash.
Officers cleared the location where the suspect was hiding and evidence was recovered.
Investigators are also looking to see if the same suspect was responsible for a robbery committed the night before in the 1800 block of Lincoln Boulevard.
That investigation is continuing.
The suspect, who is a 17-year-old male from Santa Monica, was transported to the station and booked on four counts of Robbery. He was later transported to a Juvenile Detention facility where he will remain pending criminal charges being filed and arraignment.
