A 25-year-old female motorist was able to walk away from her burning four-door 2007 Ford Fiesta in Santa Monica earlier this afternoon.
Sgt. Richard Lewis said shortly before 12:30 p.m., officers responded to calls of a vehicle on fire on the 2200 block of the westbound I-10 Freeway.
“The investigation revealed the 25-year-old female driver was exiting the 10 freeway westbound at Cloverfield,” Lewis said. “She claimed her brakes malfunctioned. She continued through the intersection of Cloverfield, through the fence, and rolled down the embankment down to the freeway.”
Lewis said she was able to get out of the burning vehicle and taken to a local hospital with complaints of pain. No-one else was in the vehicle and no other cars were involved.
