On Saturday, Oct. 29, at 1 a.m. officers of the Santa Monica Police Department responded to the area of Ocean Avenue and Broadway after receiving a report of a group of about 20 people fighting in the street. When the officers arrived they witnessed a large group of individuals fighting and, upon spotting the presence of law enforcement personnel, running towards a large “party bus.”
The officers tried to stop these people, but they continued to run onto the bus. The officers eventually detained four individuals on the sidewalk, and as they were doing this a man dismounted the bus and began to put himself between the officers and the detainees. This man was very, very drunk, and ignored several commands from the officers to get back, but this individual became hostile towards the officers.
The officers then took this man down to the ground, and, against all of his struggling, placed him in handcuffs. As they were doing this, the man began to yell at the officers, informing them many times that he was going to kill them all.
The officers arrested this man, aged nine, I mean 19 years old from Aliso Viejo and he was charged with public intoxication, and obstructing officers. His bail was set at $10,000.
