Santa Monica police are seeking the public’s help in locating a suspected homeless man who struck a man sitting at a bus bench located on the southwest corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Seventh Street last Friday, Oct. 28, between 2 p.m. and 2:20 p.m.
The victim reported he was approached from behind by a person walking westbound and then was struck on the right side of his head.
The force of the blow caused the victim to fall to the ground.
However, the victim managed to look up and see the suspect, who he believes is homeless, walk westbound on Wilshire Boulevard, while holding a large rock or stone in his hand.
The victim was able to call 911 and report the crime.
The victim sustained major injuries to his head and was transported to a local hospital where he is now listed in critical condition.
The suspect is described as a Male, unknown race, 40-50 years of age, 5’4” to 5’5”, thin build and holding a rock or stone in his hand (no further description).
