Santa Monica firefighters will take part in training this Sunday and Monday using live fire conditions to perform multiple disciplines including ventilation, rescue, fire attack, and firefighter survival.
The Santa Monica Fire Department will be conducting the training in a commercial building scheduled for demolition, which is located at 1610 Colorado Ave.
This building is being demolished for the future implementation of the EXPO light rail line that will connect downtown Los Angeles with the city of Santa Monica.
The Santa Monica Fire Department will be hosting this unique training opportunity in coordination with the Advanced Fire Control Organization to facilitate a State Fire Marshal sponsored fire class.
The class will provide firefighters with the unique opportunity to train in live fire conditions and perform multiple disciplines including ventilation, rescue, fire attack, and firefighter survival.
The training will take place this Sunday, Jan. 29 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Monday Jan. 30 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Fire Department’s participation in the drill will not affect their response to emergency 911 calls for service. The public should be aware of the drill and that the training can mimic that of an actual fire.
