On Sunday, May 20, at 8:07 p.m. an officer of the Santa Monica Police Department was driving northbound on 23rd Street near Wilshire Boulevard when they saw a man urinating against the wall of a local business.
The officer stopped and spoke with this man and asked for his identification.
This man became belligerent, threw some identification papers on to the ground and began to taunt the officer to pick them up.
The officers called for back up via his police radio and another patrol unit arrived at the scene. The officers then attempted to arrest this man and a brief struggle ensued after which the officers overpowered the man and this man was arrested.
Upon arrival at the police headquarters this man was found to have an outstanding $30,000 warrant out from the Culver City Police Department.
He was also on probation for petty theft. This 42-year-old man of no fixed abode was charged with resisting arrest and urinating in public.
His bail was set at $40,000.
