On view at the Unitarian Universalist Community Church for the month of June will be the artwork of Step Up on Second and Daniel’s Place member-artists who explore the healing power of art.
The opening reception will be this Sunday, June 3 from noon to 1 p.m.
The exhibit explores creativity and self-expression through painting, drawing, and pastels. There are about 18 artworks on view.
One of the pieces is a painting of the sunset, painted by a member-artist of Daniel’s Place.
The drama of the landscape – with its fiery, bold crimson sky starkly contrasting against a solemn, pale globe – is striking.
Likewise, Danny “Rocker” Pineiro’s brilliant, complex use of color commands the medium and his bold brushstrokes amplify the emotive and tactile quality of his work.
The Unitarian Universalist Community Church is located at 1260 18th Street, Santa Monica.
