On Thursday, July 19, at 1:45 a.m. officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called to the Shutters Hotel, located at 1 Pico Boulevard because an ambassador of the hotel had made a report about a man who had walked up to a Plexiglass sign that was the property of the hotel and kicked it out, for no explainable reason whatsoever, it seemed.
When the officers arrived at the hotel they spoke with the reporting party who told them he saw the suspect walk along Ocean Front Walk and kick the restaurant sign to pieces before fleeing eastbound on Pico Boulevard.
Other offices who were checking the area later spotted and detained a pair of individuals who matched the description in the 1700 block of Main Street that had been supplied by the reporting party.
The suspect was positively identified and placed under a private person’s arrest and charged with vandalism.
The bail for this 22-year-old Phoenix, Arizona man was set at $1,000.
