Staged Reading Series: Dead Man’s Cell Phone. In the second in a new series of staged readings, Santa Monica Rep performs Sarah Ruhl’s 2007 satirical comedy, “Dead Man’s Cell Phone,” directed by Eric Bloom. United Cerebral Palsy Exhibit. United Cerebral Palsy of Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties (UCPLA) present Current Current, on display at the Santa Monica Pier Carousel through August 2. This group exhibition brings together works focused on the diverse movements of like. Whether with transitions of subtle colors or explosive bursts, the gestures within these works convey deep emotion and immense physicality. Last of the Knotts. The semi-autobiographical, solo show written and performed by poet/hipster Doug Knott and produced by Meadowbrook Entertainment, will be staged at Santa Monica Playhouse’s The Other Space Theatre with performances July 26, Aug. 30, and Sept. 27 at 8 p.m. Doug endures a childhood of severe abuse by his alcoholic father, a Florida judge obsessed with his own legacy.
