The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board of Education meetings will now begin at 5:30 p.m., instead of 6 p.m. Closed session will occur from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Additionally, the board has added a study session at the beginning of the open session agenda, as well as switched the order of major action items and discussion items.
This change in start time and structure will allow board members to hear presentations and consider/analyze information that is core to the district’s mission at an earlier hour, and will also allow district staff an opportunity to go home at a reasonable time and prepare for the next work day.
The Board of Education discussed these changes at its June 7, 2012, meeting and took action on June 27, 2012.
