A Look At The Chamber’s ‘PeBL Gives Back’ Campaign:

Within this vibrant beach community, the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce has a committee entitled “PeBL” (Professionals Emerging as Business Leaders) that gives its members’ the grand opportunity to complete a vast array of philanthropic work with its “PeBL Gives Back” campaign.

A dynamic group of forward-thinking executives from a wide array of industries throughout Santa Monica and greater Southern California, each member is dedicated to understanding changing business trends and building strong relationships in the community through philanthropy, networking, and ongoing strategic communications.

The committee has flourished into a strong division of The Chamber’s outreach to young professionals throughout the city and offers a fast track to networking both socially and professionally while also offering up numerous opportunities to donate time, brain power, and physical energy to those non-profits working hard throughout Santa Monica to improve the quality of life for our fellow neighbors.

Every year, the professionals group – chaired by Megan Sheehy of Northern Italian restaurant Locanda del Lago and Evan Pozarny of Muselli Commercial Realtors – selects four local non-profits to which it donates its time and energy.

In the past four years, the committee has dedicated itself to organizations including the American Red Cross, Sustainable Works, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, YMCA, Boys & Girls Club of Santa Monica, Art of Giving, Heal the Bay, St. Vincent Meals on Wheels West, and WISE & Healthy Aging to name a few.

Members of PeBL can often be found volunteering activities that include cooking a meal for families at Los Angeles’ Upward Bound House (a shelter homeless families with children), delivering meals to community elders with Meals on Wheels, adding special touches to food pantries at local homeless shelters, and finger painting with children at the Boys & Girls Club.

In addition, PeBL plans and executes events such as community fundraisers and Santa Monica beach clean-ups.

For the 2012-2013 fiscal year, PeBL focuses its energy and time on the four nominated non-profits of Upward Bound House, WISE & Healthy Aging, Virginia Avenue Project, and Art of Giving. With endless opportunities to give back, PeBL continuously strives to make a difference within its adored community of Santa Monica.

For questions and more information about PeBL, contact Megan Sheehy at 310.451.3525.
