Moksha Festival Exhibits Healthy Living Initiatives:

The latest innovations in health and wellness – from USB aromatherapy oil burners to zero gravity yoga swings – were showcased last weekend at the Moksha Festival that featured healers from all walks of life.

Held at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, visitors enjoyed the more than 100 vendors offering various services and products in the industry.

Moksha Festival Coordinator Lilia Smythe said the two-day festival was a celebration of yoga, wellness, and sacred music.

“(We had) a lot of beautiful vendors all coming together to bring consciousness to our city,” Smythe said. “Our goal is for people to just celebrate and enjoy all the festivities. In terms of yoga, it’s about balancing out all your energy and music with its power to heal.”

Carolyn Matini, of Island Superfoods, was one of the vendors thrilled to be part of the festival.

“All natural products affect us on an energetic level,” Matini said. “It affects our mental attitude and it affects just the way we feel. It’s a really great positive, conscious festival and everybody is just in tune with our products.”

Yogi Tarzen, Yoga Swing Grand Master, showed off his moves on a zero gravity yoga swing.

“Everybody can be as youthful as they want,” Tarzen said. “It’s really locked within the tissues of the body, meaning if you’re 80 years old, you can start moving like a child. How healthy we are is who we are.”

Yoga teacher Mary Dale agreed that her craft could be done at any age.

“I’ll be 61,” Dale said. “I’m a living example that Yoga is a lifestyle and when you do it regularly, it promotes vitality and health for your whole life.”

More than a dozen bands performed on two stages. There were 20 classes and workshops focusing on Yoga (Asanas), Pranayama, Meditation, Ayurveda, Nutrition, Indian Classical Music, Sanskrit, Jyotish, and Vaastu throughout the two days.
