A Santa Monica man was arrested Tuesday, Sept. 25 after attacking his wife in a drunken rage after quitting his job and trying to sell her belongings.
At 8:50 a.m. officers of the Santa Monica Police Department went to the 1300 block of 11th Street after they had received a report of a domestic violence incident.
When the officers arrived they spoke with the victim (wife) and the suspect (husband). The officers discovered the husband had quit his job and upon breaking this news to his wife an (expected?) argument had ensued.
The wife had left the property at that time but had returned later, only to find her newly unemployed husband drunk, and in the process of selling her belongings.
The wife, upon seeing this affront, asked the husband to leave while she gathered her belongings.
The husband responded to this request by hitting the wife in the face and kicking her to boot.
It was after this assault the wife had called the police and had waited for their arrival.
The officers noticed the wife was sporting visible injuries as a result of her husbands alleged behavior and so they arrested this 54-year-old unemployed resident of Santa Monica and he was charged with domestic violence. His bail was set at $50,000.
