Santa Monica Saturday Happenings For November 3:

Looking for something fun to do today, Saturday Nov. 3? There are plenty of things happening around Santa Monica. Here is a partial list of what’s on in Santa Monica:

Edison Language Academy at 2425 Kansas Avenue will celebrate the 12th Annual Festival de Otoño and Día De Los Muertos gallery in Santa Monica from 1-5 p.m. The event combines art, theatre, music, food, poetry, games and a multi-cultural celebration of the season. El Dia de los Muertos Exhibit will be on display from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Café Boliver, 1741 Ocean Park Blvd. The café’s altar will be on exhibit. Come by for free pan de muerto and Mexican chocolate for children. Exhibit will be on display until Nov. 5. Contact the café if you’d like to participate in the altar. 310.581.2344, cafebolivar.com.

Quincy Jones Presents: Alfredo Rodriguez and Nikki Yanofsky at 8 p.m. at The Broad Stage’s The Edye at Santa Monica Blvd. and 11th Street. Back by popular demand, Alfredo has shared the stage with Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Patti Austin, James Ingram, McCoy Tyner, Esperanza Spalding, Richard Bona, Lionel Loueke, and many more. Vineyard Touring Opera Company Presents “Imposters of Opera” and “Gianni Schicchi” at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Santa Monica Bay Woman’s Club, 1210 4th St. A humorous introduction to some very famous music sung by characters who are not what they seem – with Dr. Viorel Gheorghe and singers from the Company. Following will be a performance of Puccini’s one-act comedy “Gianni Schicchi,” fully staged with orchestra, sung in English and conducted by Frank Basile. Emeritus College Concert Band performance at The Broad Stage at 3 p.m. With Mike Corrigan conducting and Jessica Swift assistant conducting, the band will perform a program that includes Gershwin, Sousa, Richard Rodgers, and more. The John Muir Elementary School Flea Market is open the first Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Free to the public and located at 2526 Sixth St. (at the corner of 6th and Ocean Park Blvd). Vendors sell a mixture of vintage clothing, coins, crystals, jewelry, and antique furniture.

The First Presbyterian Church will host is Christmas Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1220 Second Street, Santa Monica. Delicious lunch with homemade pie. $8 adults, $5 children. Parking available in city structure across from the church. Attendees are encouraged to bring your own bags for shopping. 310.451.1303.
