Pico Youth & Family Center To Host 4th Annual Art For Hearts Tonight:

The event will include a silent auction of uniquely-crafted hearts.

The Pico Youth & Family Center will host its 4th Annual Art for Hearts benefit today, Feb. 28 from 8 pm to 1 am at the Townhouse & Del Monte Speakeasy in Venice.

Anyone interested in art, music, and in advancing social justice are invited to attend.

Through a 1000 people march for peace, the PYFC was born in 2002. Since then, the non-profit organization has served hundreds of at-risk youth on the Westside by providing much needed case management, counseling, tutoring, computer training, job readiness preparation, and music production training.

PYFC targets youth ages 16-24 that are most at risk – including those who are failing academically, not in school, or on probation.

Through PYFC staff support many PYFC youth have earned advanced college degrees, contributed 80 original songs encompassed in four CD compilations and have gained employment.

The PYFC is an example that an investment in after school programs can succeed in reducing youth gang involvement and violence.

To continue the good work the organization needs the community’s support.

It needs to raise $7,000 to help fund the various programs and services at PYFC.

Tonight’s event will include a silent auction of uniquely-crafted hearts by youth artists and established artists like Alex Kizu, Sand One, Ernie Lucero, JC Munoz Hernandez and others.

The evening will also include music by DJ Sloepoke, and LA based bands: Quinto Sol, La Chamba Chicha and guest appearances.

The Townhouse & the Del Monte Speakeasy is located at 52 Windward Ave. Venice.
