Thousands of Santa Monica residents wondering what all the colorful paint was about on Ocean Park Boulevard had their questions answered last week when a City report revealed that the highly decorated portion of Ocean Park from Lincoln to Main Street is actually a secret entrance to Knott’s Berry Farm.
According to the report anyone driving west on the brightly painted stretch of Ocean Park Boulevard can cause a segment of the pavement to rise and open up to admit their vehicle to an underground roadway simply by uttering the magical words “Bippity Zippity Dippity.”
The underground roadway delivers travelers to the entrance of Knott’s Berry Farm, or they can continue driving on to Disneyland or the Dollywood amusement park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
News of the Ocean Park Boulevard development stunned bicycle enthusiasts who had come to view the painted designs on the street as a beacon leading to more and better safe cycling routes in our city.
Rusty Spokes, chairman of the group Bikegeist, told Almost Daily “We’re disappointed that it’s all about delivering people to commercial attractions. On the other hand, that new ‘Cars’ ride at California Adventure is frigging awesome!”
