“Peace mom” Cindy Sheehan will make a stop in Santa Monica Sunday as part of her bike ride from California to Washington, D.C.
Her “Tour de Peace” ride is calling for action to end wars, end suppression of civil rights, and end use of fossil fuels.
Sheehan – who started her cross country bike trek Thursday from her son Casey’s grave in Vacaville, CA – will arrive in Santa Monica at 10 am Sunday for an event at Arlington West Memorial (next to the Santa Monica Pier).
She said April 4 was the ninth anniversary of the day her son was killed in Iraq.
The ride will conclude on July 3, 2013, with a ride from Arlington National Cemetery to the White House.
The “Tour de Peace” ride across the United States will follow historic Route 66 to Chicago, and other roads from there on to D.C.
Bicyclists will join in for all or part of the tour, which will include public events organized by local groups along the way.
