Santa Monica Public Library will welcome writer and actor Aaron Hartzler for an author talk in support of his hilarious new memoir “Rapture Practice” on Saturday, April 13 at 3 pm in the Main Library’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Auditorium, 601 Santa Monica Blvd.
A writer and actor, Hartzler’s autobiographical performances have been seen in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York where he received a GLAAD Media Award nomination for Outstanding Off-Off Broadway Performance.
Now he translates his story from the stage to the page in Rapture Practice, a memoir of his childhood and teen years, growing up in a fundamentalist Christian household, where everyone else is waiting for the rapture, but Hartzler’s more interested in experiencing his first kiss, starring in the school play, and indulging in other rebellious teen fantasies.
“Rapture Practice” is a funny and kind-hearted portrait of adolescence that will be recognizable to anyone with a free spirit.
A book sale and signing follows the author’s talk.
This event is presented free to the public and is open to all. Seating is first come, first served.
