Running group Los Angeles Speed Project held an impromptu “Run for Boston” event with several hundred supporters 6 am Wednesday morning that started at the Santa Monica Pier.
Organizers said the route extended seven miles out before looping back through the city for a total of about 14 miles.
The run was organized to honor the three people killed and the more than 170 others injured when two bombs exploded near the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Monday.
