Santa Monica Fire Department Investigates Yankee Doodles Kitchen Fire:

The Santa Monica Fire Department is investigating how a fire started in the early morning hours Monday at Yankee Doodles sports bar and grill on the Third Street Promenade.

SMFD units responded to the commercial structure fire at 1410 3rd Street in the business district at 5:02 am where they battled a fire in the kitchen and roof of the Yankee Doodles.

Under the command of SMFD Battalion Chief Carl Bjerke, the fire was contained to the restaurant with no other businesses suffered damage.

A SMFD spokesman said fire units from the Los Angeles Fire Department and the Culver City Fire Department were requested to assist. No injuries were reported.
