Verizon Employees Volunteer To Improve Tech Center At Boys & Girls Club:

Boys and Girls Club members created a 'thank you' poster for the Verizon volunteers who helped give their tech center a facelift.

Local Verizon employees participated in a volunteer day on Friday to improve the state of the Tech Center at Boys & Girls Club of Santa Monica’s Mar Vista Gardens Branch.

It was part of the Verizon FiOS SoCal Experience campaign that is designed to support for local causes, and Verizon and the local community will team up to support three non-profit organizations in each phase of the campaign.

The campaign has already donated a total of 32,000 to non-profits throughout Southern California.

Funds will support Tech Superstars program: A computer literacy and technology access and education program for school-age youth, especially those who have limited access to computers.

Through the program, young people learn basic computer skills and receive introductory to advanced instruction for a variety of hardware and software.

Participants have daily access to fully equipped computer labs with internet access as well as educational and creative computer programs, which they can use to help them complete school assignments or develop and expand their skills.
