The northbound (NB) I-405 off-ramp to Sunset Boulevard will be closed 24 hours a day for demolition and reconstruction, for 120 days, starting 7 pm tonight through to Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013.
“As soon as the off ramp is closed, the contractor is going to do some striping work here on Sunset,” Metro spokesman Dave Sotero told CBS2 News. “Then they are going to begin to prepare to do the demolition work which begins tonight.”
The demolition work will take about a week before the contractor begins building a new off ramp.
“The new ramp is going to be 1000 feet longer and it’s going to carry 60 percent more passengers on the ramp itself,” Sotero said. “It’s going to help improve traffic flows for people getting off the 405 and heading to the UCLA area.”
The new off-ramp will be constructed to modern seismic standards and will feature two right-turn lanes to eastbound Sunset Boulevard.
