Bail was set at $23,762 for a homeless man on Saturday, Sept. 28 after becoming aggressive inside the Ocean Park branch of the Santa Monica Public Library when a computer he was using began to freeze.
Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department responded to the library at 2601 Main Street at 3:31 pm and spoke with staff members.
They told officers that the homeless man had entered the library and was using one of the computers.
This man became frustrated when the computer began to freeze up and he expressed his consternation by banging his fist upon the computer then picking the mouse up and throwing it around in anger.
A security guard requested that the man calm down (it was a library, after all) however this suspect stood up, yelled at the security guard and then proceeded to push him in his chest.
A wrestling bout ensued until the security guard took control over the suspect and police arrived. The officers arrested this 53-year-old homeless man and he was charged with assault, obstructing officers, and six outstanding warrants.
