Lincoln Boulevard Beautification Project To Take Place Saturday Morning:

A “Harvest the Litter” clean-up event will be held along a portion of Lincoln Boulevard acquired by the City of Santa Monica from State (also known as CA-1) this Saturday, Nov. 2.

It will be held from 9:30 am to noon as a project of the Lincoln Boulevard Task Force.

This is the second clean up the Task Force has done in its effort to make Lincoln Boulevard “safe, clean, beautiful and green.”

A mural project has enhanced the area Pico to Ocean Park and the Nov. 2 clean up will be followed by an art walk led by Evan Meyer, the inspired organizer and creator of the mural project, to view the completed walls.

The Boulevard was recently resurfaced and restriped and it is hoped that lighted crosswalks will ensure the safety of pedestrians.

In addition to picking up litter, clearing weeds, and other debris, the ”Harvest” hopes  to have a cadre of sidewalk chalk artists, an “odd sock” artist, and street corner musicians to further enhance the event.

The cleanup will extend south along the east and west sides of Lincoln from the 10 freeway on ramp to Ozone Avenue.

Participants should check in at the table under the canopy on the Lincoln side of the Albertson’s parking lot between 9 am and 9:30 am Saturday morning to get gloves, trash bags, tools and block assignments.

Artists and musicians should also check in at the canopy as well. All participants should bring their own drinking water.

For more information or to commit to helping with the event, contact K.C. Pilon at 310.593.1572 or email at killeencpilon@gmail.com.

The Lincoln Boulevard Task Force is a project of four neighborhood groups:  Ocean Park Neighborhood Association, Friends of Sunset Park, Pico Neighborhood Association, and Borderline Neighbors.
