Four Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica members were winners in the Santa Monica Elks Lodge 906 Hoop Shoot Contest held last week. This free throw program is open to youth ages 8-13, and provides participants an opportunity to compete, connect and succeed.
The Hoop Shoot was held at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica’s Main Branch, and the winners were: Luis Espinoza (Boys 8-9), Adrian Smukvitz (Boys 10-11), Deja Hunt (Girls 10-11), and William Ayala Boys (12-13).
These local champions will now move on to compete at the district level today, Jan. 5 at 1 pm at North Torrance High School, located at 3620 West 182nd Street, Torrance.
Elks invest in their communities through programs that help children grow up healthy and drug-free, by undertaking projects that address unmet needs, and also by honoring the service and sacrifice of our veterans.
“The Elks are a valuable and dedicated charitable organization that provides important resources to our local community,” said Aaron Young, CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica. “We are proud to include Santa Monica Lodge 906 as one of our upcoming 70th anniversary partners, and look forward to working together to inspire our local youth.”
