Samohi Girls Basketball On The Right Track: Vikings claim fifth win of the season

The Santa Monica High School’s girls basketball team continued its hot play with a 58-36 win against Price in a Jan. 9 home game.

It was the Vikings’ fourth win-in-a-row before encountering Inglewood in an Ocean League contest. All of Samohi’s last four victories have been in double-figures.

Samohi outscored Price big in the first and third quarters to come away with the win.

The Vikings used a 15-4 first quarter run to head into the second period. But Price regrouped in the second quarter to outscore Samohi 19-17, making it a game. Samohi then came back with an 18 point quarter in the third period to pull away.

Neither team did much in the fourth quarter. Samohi outscored the visitors 8-5 in the period to finish the game with its fifth win (5-6-1) of the season. In the team’s last four wins, Samohi scored 58 points or more.

Prior to their winning streak, the Vikings could only muster 44 points or less in five straight defeats.

Samohi kicked off its hot streak with a 55-40 win against Righetti.
