Westside Neighborhood School To Present Speaker Lou Cozolino Thursday, Jan. 9:

Louis Cozolino, author and professor of psychology, will share information Thursday from his research and teachings on the brain and social learning

Westside Neighborhood School will host Dr. Louis Cozolino to speak about his research and teachings.

His presentation will focus on his extensive research on the brain and social learning. 

In this engaging talk, learn how the brain evolved to become a social organ and how secure attachment relationships in the classroom turn brains on to learning. 

Dr. Cozolino emphasizes that the brain is a social organ, which gives us an understanding to why we are all connected and the importance of social relationships, both in and out of the classroom.

With information relevant to both teachers and parents of children of all ages, Dr. Cozolino’s insights and expertise on neuroscience and the brain will resonant with all.

Dr. Cozolino is a Professor of Psychology at Pepperdine University and a therapist and consultant in private practice. He holds a doctorate in clinical psychology as well degrees in philosophy and theology. 

He is the author of five books including “The Social Neuroscience of Education,” “The Neuroscience of Human Relationships,” and “The Healthy Aging Brain.”

Among many accolades, The Social Neuroscience of Education was deemed one of the best books of 2013 by the UC Berkeley Greater Good Science Center. 

Dr. Cozolino has also authored articles and book chapters on child abuse, schizophrenia, language, and cognition and conducted empirical research on schizophrenia, the long-term impact of stress and child abuse.

Dr. Cozolino teaches how to utilize the lessons of social neuroscience in the classroom and at home to cultivate optimal learning.

The talk will take place from 7 pm to 9 pm at Westside Neighborhood School, 5401 Beethoven Street, Los Angeles, CA 90066.

The event is part of the WNS Speaker Series and is co-sponsored by Branches Atelier, The New School-West, and LMU Children’s Center. 

It is open to the public free of charge with an RSVP.
