Santa Monica police arrested a man on Wednesday, March 19 after being caught spraying graffiti on trees and grave markers at Woodlawn Cemetery in Santa Monica.
Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department who were on routine patrol received a radio call at 1 pm on this day informing them of vandalism occurring at the cemetery at 1847 14th Street.
Upon arrival the officers spoke with a cemetery employee who told them he had seen a man spraying graffiti on trees and grave markers.
The employee added this man had also urinated on another employee’s automobile.
The employee pointed the officers in the direction of the suspect, who was at that time still in the cemetery.
The officers approached this man, arrested him and he was charged with defacing, damaging property and urinating in public.
Upon arrival at the Santa Monica Jail the man resurrected his anti-social behavior and began fighting with officers so equally grave the charge of obstructing police officers was added.
Bail was set at $17,500.
