A 35-year-old homeless man was arrested on Friday, April 11 after charging at a park ranger and being in possession of a stolen bike.
Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called out to assist a Park Ranger at 11:50 pm on this day who had allegedly been attacked by a homeless man in the Christine Reed Park, located at 1150 Lincoln Boulevard.
Upon arrival the officers spoke with the Park Ranger who told them that he had been attempting to write the homeless man a ticket for a municipal code violation when the homeless man charged at him.
He said the homeless man knocked him to the ground and a wrestling match ensued until the Park Ranger was able to overpower the homeless man and push him away.
The Park Ranger added he had been able to detain the homeless man until the police arrived.
The police looked at the homeless man and then arrested him.
The police also noted the homeless man was in possession of a stolen bicycle.
This homeless man was charged with battery against a peace officer and violation of probation. Bail was set at $20,000.
