The United States Geological Survey has reported a 3.0 earthquake occurred just after 12:20 p.m. today near Manhattan Beach, Calif.
A Twitter post just moments after the quake indicated the shocks were felt as far away as north Santa Monica.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was estimated to be just off the coast of Manhattan Beach in the Santa Monica Bay. The USGS website for earthquake updates initially reported the epicenter was 9.3 kilometers (5.77 miles) west of the coastline.
