2XU Santa Monica RunFEST To Take Place This Sunday, Oct. 19:

The 2XU Santa Monica RunFEST invites runners of all levels to participate in friendly competition and family fun at the Santa Monica Pier this Sunday, Oct. 19 at 8 am.

With different distances for every skill level and age group, this event not only inspires all runners to participate, but it also offers a chance to give back to Santa Monica and Malibu schools’ sports programs and student athletes. RunFEST is produced by Generic Events, a marketing and event production company that focuses on bringing the community together.

“Formerly known as The Santa Monica 5000, we’ve upgraded the event to the 2XU Santa Monica RunFEST presented by Skechers, and added activities and races for people of all ages and skill levels,” said Brennan Lindner, co-producer of RunFEST. “Whether you’re a weekend warrior, triathlete or power walker, this will be a fun event for the whole family and a great way to raise money for Santa Monica and Malibu schools along the beautiful seascape.”

This year, 2XU is the title sponsor, offering a training series prior to the race and providing 2XU gear to the first 2,000 runners. As the presenting sponsor, Skechers Performance is supporting Santa Monica RunFEST by offering a free Skechers cinch sack to all participants. Skechers is also hosting the Elite West Coast Invitational, featuring top athletes from around the world competing for cash prizes and world records.

Participants can take part in the 5K or 10K timed courses for the committed, passionate runners with time goals, and the top three in each age group will receive an award medal.

For a more light-hearted and fun option, runners can join the Retro Run, which celebrates the 70s, 80s, 90s and beyond. Runners are encouraged to dress in the spirit of their favorite decade and go at their own pace. This is a non-timed course for those just looking to have a good time.

The RunFEST starting location is south of the intersection of Barnard Way and Ocean Park Blvd in Santa Monica. Parking is located just south of Pico Blvd., and can only be entered going south on Barnard Way.

Santa Monica RunFEST is sponsored by 2XU, Skechers Performance Division, Clif Bars, Wyndham Santa Monica, Chobani and Dun & Bradstreet Credibility Corp.

Participants can register at www.santamonicarunfest.com.
