On Friday, September 19, at 7:25 pm officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called out to Grant Elementary School, located at 2368 Pearl Street, in order to investigate a child endangerment and public intoxication report.
Upon arrival the officers spoke with staff at the school who told them that a woman had arrived at the school fours hours later than required in order to collect her children from the school.
They added that this woman had initially attempted to drive away from the school but had changed her mind and began to walk away with them when she spotted staff calling the police.
The officers then drove to the woman’s home address and spoke with her at that location.
As the officers spoke with this woman she became agitated and refused to cooperate.
The officers also noticed that the woman appeared to be heavily intoxicated and that she had ordered her children not to speak with the officers.
The officers arrested this woman and she was charged with obstruction of justice and child endangerment.
Bail for this 29-year-old Santa Monica resident was set at $15,000.
