Filing Period for L.A. City Election Begins Today:

Candidates for Los Angeles’ 2015 primary nominating election may begin filing their declarations of intention to run for office Monday.

The deadline to file the declarations to appear on the March 3 ballot is Saturday.

The offices being contested are the City Council seats for Districts 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14; the District 1, 3, 5 and 7 seats on the Los Angeles Unified School District Board of Education and Seats 1, 3, 5 and 7 on the Los Angeles Community College District Board of Trustees.

The declarations can be picked up and filed at the Office of City Clerk-Election Division at Piper Technical Center, 555 Ramirez St., Space 300, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m.-noon Saturday.

Nomination petitions must be filed between Saturday and Dec. 3.

Candidates can get additional information by calling the Election Division during weekday business hours at (213) 978-0444 or viewing the candidate information section on the Election Division’s website at clerk.lacity.org/elections.
