Santa Monica College will celebrate International Education Week with a special guest lecture by Zahra Ismail on “Working Together to Support Civilians Affected by Violent Conflict.”
The lecture is free and will be held at 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 18, in Humanities & Social Science Lecture Hall 165 on the main SMC campus, 1900 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica. Seating is strictly on a first-arrival basis.
Ismail is a Program Officer at the Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies at the University of San Diego. A skilled trainer in conflict resolution, she is renowned as an expert in peacebuilding.
Ismail will talk about what she has learned from her experiences working abroad with nongovernment organizations (NGOs) supporting community level mediation, international development, human rights, and conflict resolution.
