The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board of Education elected Laurie Lieberman to serve as Board President and Dr. Jose Escarce to serve as Board Vice President at is annual reorganization meeting on Thursday night.
Lieberman and Dr. Escarce were elected to these officer positions by acclamation.
“Our district is fortunate to have such dedicated elected officials,” said Superintendent Sandra Lyon. “Ms. Lieberman and Dr. Escarce will provide excellent leadership this coming year as the board welcomes two new board members and fills a vacancy.”
Lieberman was elected to serve on the Board of Education in November 2010. Dr. Escarce was elected to the Board of Education in November 2000.
Both have previously served as officers of the board.
