Santa Monica police arrested a 40-year-old man from Russia on Wednesday, Jan. 21, after responding to a report of domestic violence.
Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called out to the 1900 block of Ocean Way at 1:30 pm after a citizen had called in a report that a woman had been heard screaming in the area during an altercation.
Upon arrival the officers spotted a woman and a man.
The officers determined the woman as the victim and the man (who was from the country of Russia), as the suspect.
The officers detained the man from Russia and spoke with the woman.
The woman said that the previous day the suspect had been drinking heavily and that they had been arguing extensively.
The officers then spoke with the suspect who admitted he had slapped the victim in the face. Based upon those statements the officers arrested this man and he was later charged with domestic violence. Bail was set at $50,000.
