Kidney Failure Survivor, 15, Makes Santa Monica High Jr. Varsity Softball Team:

Samohi Jr. Varsity Softball team pose for a picture after a winning scrimmage played in South Torrance on Saturday. They will host their official game at Memorial Park this Saturday in a double header with South Torrance starting at 2:30 pm and 4:30 pm.

After suffering in illness at the age of 12, Marisol Solano was suffering from Anca Glomerulonephritis (kidney failure) and had to go through three rounds of chemotherapy. She is now stable condition at the age of 15 and has made the Jr. Varsity Softball Team at Santa Monica High School.

Marisol started softball at the age of 8 with Santa Monica Girls Fastpitch League until doctors discovered she had inflammation on her both kidneys.

Doctors are not sure what started the illness, they could only determined the approximate time when it occurred and had to go through immediate chemotherapy.

She was home schooled for a year and was limited on her physical activities for two years.

She is now stable and with the support of her family and friends and numerous visits at the hospital from her softball league SMGF is able to play her favorite sport again in the high school level now.
