Santa Monica Apartment Robbed Overnight Near Third Street Promenade:

A burglar was interrupted while at a Santa Monica apartment early today but still managed to escape with musical instruments and a computer, police said.

The burglary was reported in the 1000 block of Third Street around 1:35 a.m., said Santa Monica police Sgt. Cody Green.

Green said the homeowner returned to the residence as the burglary was underway, but there was no confrontation with the suspect.

The burglar’s haul included five guitars and a laptop computer, a news videographer reported from the scene.
