A 32-year-old homeless man was taken to jail and charged with theft and trespass after he stood naked in a woman’s shower area at Exhale Spa inside the Fairmont Miramar Hotel.
On Friday, April 3, at 8 am officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called out to the spa at 101 Wilshire Blvd. to investigate a naked man report.
The officers had been told that a naked man had surprised female patrons in the women’s shower area of the facility.
One of the women had screamed at the naked man to leave before informing the hotel security staff. The staff in turn had called police.
Upon arrival the officers spotted the now dressed man near the intersection of Second St. and Idaho Ave. where they detained him while they made their inquiries.
Shortly afterward, some of the spa-goers identified the man as being the naked man who had been in the spa shower, and the hotel security staff confirmed that this man did not have permission to be there.
In addition the security staff members told the officers that the once-naked man had also stolen a towel from the hotel.
The suspect also had several prior arrests for trespass. Bail was set at $5,000.
