An intoxicated La Cañada woman was arrested in Santa Monica on Thursday, April 16, after crashing into a number of cars then trying to run away before turning herself in responding police.
Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called out to attend to a report of a hit-and-run incident at 5:15 pm that had just occurred in the area of 32nd Street and Pearl Street.
The officers were told that a woman had been seen by a witness to have been involved in several collisions in the area and then park her vehicle in the driveway of a residence in the 2400 block of 32nd Street before running away.
The officers were told that the woman was dressed in blue jeans and a pink T-shirt.
The officers arrived at the location and began to talk to bystanders.
As they were doing this a woman wearing the aforementioned clothing approached them.
The woman announced to the officers that she was the individual that they were looking for, stating that she had been driving the car and had run away.
The witnesses at the scene confirmed to the officers that this was in fact the same woman who had been driving like a lunatic moments prior and had struck several cars on the street.
The officers spoke to the woman and soon determined that she was rather intoxicated.
This 51-year-old woman was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, misdemeanor hit and run, and reckless driving. Bail was set at $15,000.
