Canadian Women’s National Soccer Team To Train In Santa Monica Beginning June 6:

The City of Santa Monica will host the Canadian Women’s National Soccer Team as they gear up for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The Canadian Team will use Santa Monica field space to prepare for scheduled scrimmages and international friendlies prior to the start of the Women’s World Cup in Canada beginning June 6.

As part of their visit, Santa Monica youth will have an opportunity to see the world-class team in action and meet the players on Sunday, May 10, at 3:30 pm at Airport Park (3201 Airport Avenue). Bike and car parking is available at Airport Park.

“Soccer is an extremely popular sport among our youth, with nearly 3,000 youth participants playing soccer within the City each year,” said Community Recreation Manager Brad Albert. “We are absolutely thrilled that our kids will have the opportunity to meet the team and see them in action.”
