Santa Monica’s 2015 Commuter Challenge Kicks Off Ridesharing Month:

Santa Monica employers can now participate in the second modal competition of Santa Monica’s 2015 Commuter Challenge—Ridesharing Month.

Individuals can participate in the Ridesharing Month Challenge by visiting www.commuteSM.com, and registering with their employer network. Santa Monica residents employed outside of the city should join the SM Residents Employed Outside of City network.

Participants can create carpools on CommuteSM.com by posting their commute in the Trip Planning module, browsing existing posts, and directly contacting individuals to coordinate logistics.

Ridesharing in Los Angeles makes sense — a 32-mile commute saves 20+ minutes, and reduces driving expenses by 70 percent. Also, best replica watches a 32-mile commute 3 days/week saves 78 pounds of CO2, the equivalent of powering a US home for 2 days. Moreover, air pollution is worst in summer from longer days, more sunlight, and stagnant air. Ridesharing improves the health of both individuals and communities.

From June 1st to June 30th, Santa Monica commuters log their commute trips in CommuteSM.com to compete. With every logged trip throughout the month, participants automatically enter weekly drawings for $25 gas cards to keep their carpools moving. At the end of the month, four carpools will be awarded prizes for the highest CO2 savings and participation rates. Companies recognized for the highest rates of employee participation and CO2 savings will receive a KIND Snacks Sampling event.

Join us for the Ridesharing Month Kick Off Breakfast on Monday, June 1 at the Colorado Center Palm Courtyard (2425 Colorado Ave) from 9-10 am. All carpools can their validate parking.
