A 36-year-old homeless man was arrested on Friday, June 26, after stealing a bicycle in the early hours of the morning.
Officers were called out to a residence in the 1100 block of Pico Blvd. at 2:51 am after a resident had reported seeing a suspect steal a bicycle from her neighbor’s property.
The reporting party described the thief as a male black wearing a black hoodie and carrying a flashlight.
The reporting party also stated that the suspect had last been seen riding the purloined pink beach cruiser westbound on Pico Blvd. and out of sight.
The officers arrived and spoke with the witness, as well as the owner of the bicycle, and as they were talking with the pair they learned via radio that other officers had detained a suspect who matched the given description.
The suspect was detained at the corner of Pico Blvd. and Lincoln Blvd.
The officers then transported the witness and the owner of the bicycle to the area where the suspect was being held.
The witness positively identified the suspect whilst the owner identified the bicycle as being her property.
The officers then searched this suspect and discovered controlled substances and drug paraphernalia upon his person.
The man was arrested and charged with possession of the aforementioned articles in addition to stealing the bicycle. Bail was set at $1,000.
