Topanga Resident Causes Vodka-fueled Ruckus at Haggen:

Latest police, crime and courts news.

Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called out to the Haggen Grocery Store (previously Albertson’s) located at 2627 Lincoln Boulevard in order to investigate a case of vandalism and assault on September 8 at 12:20 p.m.

When the officers arrived at the location they were met with the store manager who told them that a woman had entered the store and had attempted to steal a bottle of vodka.

The store manager added that when the woman was confronted by store employees she started to swing the vodka wildly at the employees and told them that they would be hit by the vodka if they approached her.

The store manager said that the woman had then opened the bottle of vodka and had poured out the contents thus rendering the bottle of vodka useless.

The officer took the woman into custody and, at the behest of the store manager, later charged her with vandalism and assault. Bail for this 47-year-old Topanga resident was set at $20,000.
