A 24-year-old Santa Monica man was arrested on Friday, Oct. 16, after flashing his genitals in public then urinating on a tree in front of the responding offer.
At 3:50 pm an officer of the Santa Monica Police Department was stopped at a traffic light at the intersection of Second St. and Broadway when he heard a man yelling and laughing loudly.
The officer exited his vehicle and located the man who was causing the commotion.
The officer recognized this man as a person who had attracted the attention of the police many times over the previous several months as being someone who had a tendency of behaving in a fashion that was unorthodox in a disturbing kind of way.
This man was standing on the sidewalk and leaning against a tree while exposing his penis to as many passers-by as he could.
The officers approached the man and suggested that it would be better in he stopped attempting to show people his penis, but the man was not impressed with the officer’s idea, and was convinced that people did actually wish to see his genitals.
The man then decided that he would urinate against the tree in front of the officer.
The officer waited until this Santa Monica resident had finished urinating before he arrested him and charged him with urinating in public, indecent exposure, and an outstanding warrant.
Bail was set at $15,000.
