The 3rd Annual Forum on the State of Addiction will be held in Santa Monica Friday with a focus on Women in Recovery.
Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce President and CEO, Laurel Rosen, will moderate an expert panel at CLARE Foundation that includes LA County Public Defender Nancy Richards Chand, UCLA Professor Christine Grella, New York Times Bestselling Author Sarah Hepola, and April Wilson, VP of Integration at Prototypes.
The annual event gathers thought leaders and medical researchers to share their knowledge about the latest findings in the field of recovery with the community, according to the organizers.
“The purpose of this year’s State of Addiction event is to help awareness about the challenges facing women in recovery and also to raise money to help low-income women get the treatment they cannot live without,” explained Jennifer Kang Erwood, Senior Director of Institutional Advancement at CLARE Foundation.
Conscious Recovery by CLARE is a non-profit intensive-outpatient substance abuse treatment facility in Santa Monica that offers drug and alcohol counseling services.
“CLARE Foundation has saved hundreds of thousands of lives through drug addiction treatment,” Kang Erwood said. “We understand how devastating and deadly addiction is and we know how to help.”
Next week’s panel discussion will be led by Rosen, who has more than 25 years of business management experience, creating the Organization of Women Leaders (OWL) and partnering with the Commission on the Status of Women to produce the International Women’s Day Breakfast to celebrate women all over the world.
