This past Saturday, the Camera Obscura Art Lab on Ocean Avenue hosted a “Repair Cafe,” inviting Santa Monica residents to bring their broken items to specialists in a number of trades. The repair cafe movement was founded in the Netherlands in 2009, and now includes over 1,100 different repair cafes around the world. Though a Repair Cafe Foundation was set up in 2010, these events are largely organized locally.
