Love Me Run – 5k Matchmaking Event: Takes Place November 12 in Santa Monica

Some people like to debate the plausibility of love at first sight, but no one ever talks about love at first step. For the first time, Love Me Run is racing into the Los Angeles area on November 12 with a 5K fun run in Santa Monica. Love Me Run aims to get participants out of the “swipe left” mentality where technology has taken over our love lives.  Participants will complete the 1km course, five different times with a new match, for a total of five unique dates.

So how does it work? Participants will be matched with a date where they will complete the 1km course together. The course is divided into running zones, where the pair will run together, setting a comfortable pace. The no running zones offer a chance for matches to get to know each other better, with the help of conversation prompters along the course.  The course is completed five different times, each time with a new match. Following the race, participants can cool down and re-connect with their favorite matches or meet new connections.

Technology has updated our status to “complicated” which makes meeting a person face-to-face an obstacle in itself. According to PEW Research Center, one third of those who use online dating services have never actually gone on a date with someone they met online.

“Our goal is to offer a comfortable environment for our guests to meet new connections face-to-face.” Says Camilla Swagar, founder of Love Me Run. “As a matchmaking 5K, Love Me Run is carving out its own niche by melding the ever-changing worlds of dating and fitness. It offers participants the chance to literally move forward with their relationships instead of simply swiping them left or right.”

So, does it work? Well, just ask Ms. Swagar, Love Me Run’s founder, who met her boyfriend through the very first event earlier this year. For more information, visit www.lovemerun.com

Where: Clover Park in Santa Monica – 2600 Ocean Park Blvd.

When: November 12, 2016. The Love Me Run will kick off at 9 a.m. with registration/packet pickup. Participants can mix and mingle at the Juice Bar beginning at 10 a.m. The run will begin at 11 a.m.

Registration: Entry fee is $40/person. “Wing person” and group discounts available. The race can accommodate 500 participants, so register today!

How it Works: The 1km course is broken into zones throughout the race; Running Zone’s allow participants to run side by side, setting a comfortable pace. Speed Walking & Talking Zones are designed for you to speed walk and are intended to encourage conversation and allow matches to get to know one another. There will be conversation prompters throughout this zone to assist you with communication. The 1km course is completed 5 times with 5 new matches.
